 MSA Pressure-Demand Abrasi-Blast Respirator
The Abrasi-Blast Respirator provides respiratory and upper body protection for workers in shipbuilding, the construction industry, utilities, and other applications where blasting with abrasives is performed.
The pressure-demand version, which uses a 65-85 psig regulator, is approved by the NIOSH for use in environments with high contaminant levels (More than 2,500 ug/m3 of lead). Users must choose one of nine different Quick-Disconnect fittings for attaching the air hose to the pressure demand regulator.
During blasting operations, the lens of the Abrasi-Blast Respirator is protected by 2 to 4 flat glass cover lenses mounted in a special foam material. Each cover lens is removed by integral pull tabs when it becomes so abraded that vision is reduced. There is no need to stop to change lenses, as is necessary with most conventional blastinghoods.
